1 in 5 Americans live with a disability, do they factor into your user research as heavily? That should be 20% of your user research at any given time. A fully abled person does not have to think about if there will be resources for them to access a new environment. Most maps are printed or provided on street corners, Google Maps is accessible and easy to use if you can see it. How does this access work for the blind or low vision users?
Not everyone can access these luxuries, when we design for specific and researched abilities we make a stronger, longer lasting and more functional design. How can a blind student access a college campus with as much ease as a sighted student?
I worked with fellow students Kelsey Cole and Thao Nguyen to solve this issue. See our presentation highlights below.
Arcade games are way to have some classic fun. But they are expensive to own. In this two part project I created a pinball machine out of cardboard and other cheap materials and through user testing I perfected it. I then translated this project into an app so pinball can be enjoyed anywhere, anytime!
